Position M&E Engineer
Division Engineering

Purpose of the Role

  • To produce and independently check M&E design in accordance with the contractual commitments of Colas Rail Ltd. 

Key Accountabilities   

  • Safety – Support the implementation of the Colas Rail Limited Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) strategy, associated actions and resulting initiatives, to deliver continuous improvement.
  • Profitability – Tracking hours spent to ensure that design work is being completed within allocated design hours.
  • Quality - To deliver high quality designs within the contractual timescales and design hour constraints for each design assignment.
  • Respect – Treat people in a fair and consistent way.  Consistently strive to understand client’s needs and requirement.

Key Tasks    

·         To produce and independently check M&E Design details broadly in the form of Form A and Form B to all Client and Company Standards.

·         To produce pre feasibility and feasibility reports and present any fundamental findings of the report to the client. 

·         To assist with M&E infrastructure condition assessment surveys and site surveys and act as department liaison when other engineering disciplines and client representatives are involved.

·         Assist with or supervise the design issue documentation and the updating of technical records as required.

·         Assist with the feasibility review and development of new projects, including the production of design time estimates.

·         Advise other staff and engineering disciplines with regards to M&E design issues.

·         To assist with the production of M&E Design estimates.

·         Represent the company at client meetings.

·         Maintaining all essential personal and company accreditations including to ensure that compliance can be proven at all time.

Person Specification

The job holder will have experience in working on site, carrying out site surveys and working on possessions.   In addition will have experience in working on other related engineering discipline such as OLE, track and power and working in a project environment.

Qualifications/Experience 

·         Minimum of HNC/Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering

·         At least 5 years experience within the M&E Engineering Industry, including at least 3 years proven design experience.

·         Membership of IET is desirable.

·         Management and use of appropriate CAD design packages.

·         Site experience is essential.  Experience of carrying out surveys and working in possessions.

·         Good level of broader knowledge of other related engineering discipline such as OLE, track and power and of working in a project environment.

·         Generates innovative solutions in work situations
