On-Track Plant

Seco Rail Ltd was founded in 1934 to operate the first mechanised ballast cleaning system on the French railways. As the company has grown and developed into Colas Rail Ltd, plant has continued to play a major part in the development. The year 2007 saw the first commercial freight operations both in the UK and in France.

Our parent company, Colas Rail, in France recently invested in 60 locomotives for the transportation of aggregates across the country. In the UK our first three locomotives have been purchased to support the ballast cleaner and the Rail-Head Treatment Trains (RHTTs). Colas Rail Ltd has also extended its MPV and railhead treatment contract with Network Rail and this is in line with the company's strategy of growing its plant capability.

Colas Rail Ltd is further supported by a modern and highly specified fleet of on-track
plant comprising S&C, plain-line and Compact tampers, a medium output ballast cleaning system and a ballast regulator.
