This work formed part of the East London Line
project, funded by Transport for London.
During a 10 day blockade at Liverpool Street
Station, the 120 year old dilapidated structure was demolished
to make way for a new bridge capable of carrying the new
generation of rolling stock that will operate on the East London
Line, due to open in 2010. GE19 had been out of use for decades
and its demolition involved the disposal of 12,000 tonnes of
brickwork.
This project forms part of the Transport for
London £1.4bn investment in the creation of the London
Overground network. |

Project Description
Colas Rail was contracted to support the signalling aspects of
the bridge demolition which included the re-location of existing
signals.
Despite the fact that the signalling works were undertaken
during a busy blockade that saw significant infrastructure
renewal across a number of asset groups, the works were
completed on time and to the clients satisfaction. |
