AmeyColas is a joint venture between Colas Rail and Amey Rail. The partnership, which has been delivering plain line track renewals in the Western Territory for over 10 years, brings together combined expertise in track renewals to deliver full design & construction of plain line and switch & crossing renewals to the rail network.

 AmeyColas has the backing of two of the world’s largest construction and service companies, Ferrovial (Spain) and Bouygues (France).

 In 2007, Network Rail decided to reduce the number of Track Renewal Framework Contractors from six to four in order to achieve efficiencies within this activity.

Following a lengthy evaluation process, AmeyColas was selected as one of chosen four suppliers and has seen its market share increase to 27%.

As part of the evaluation process, AmeyColas was measured across a number of key areas including safety record, volumes achieved, finishing jobs on time, unit costs and business behaviours.

Not only was AmeyColas retained by Network Rail as a provider of track renewals services, it also had its area of operation doubled.

The joint venture is now responsible for all plain line track renewals and switch & crossing renewals in the following areas;

- West Coast South
- West Midlands
- Great Western

AmeyColas has received the “Golden Clip” award from Network Rail in recognition of it having achieved the highest plain line track geometry quality in the UK.
