West
Anglia Route Modernisation
Generally considered to be the most successful alliance
of its type in the UK, the WARM (West Anglia Route
Modernisation) Alliance was a five-way Alliance with
full in-house design and construct expertise. The
Alliance focused on the re-signalling and upgrading of
the commuter lines North-East of London in the Anglia
zone. |
|
The
WARM Alliance was unusually successful in delivering and
commissioning successive stages of the project.
|
|
The
scope of the project was design development,
implementation, test and commission, covering
re-signalling, replacement of life-expired equipment
including permanent way, overhead line equipment,
telecoms, mechanical and electrical and associated civil
work. |
|
Within
the Alliance, Colas Rail Ltd had responsibility for the
catenary system and traction power supply. |
|
Phase
1, the design and development stage, started in June
1999 and Phase 2, the detailed design and implementation
stage (consisting of five geographical commissioning
stages), started in December 1999. |
