Purpose
of job
Provide
technical
direction
to Colas
Rail
Limited
professional
head of
E&P
Engineering,
so that
all
contractual
commitments
to
Network
Rail and
other
Clients
are
delivered
in a
safe,
high
quality
and
commercially
viable
manner.
Receive
all E&P
Engineering
standards
for
Colas
Rail;
enhance
them to
meet
project
requirements
as
necessary.
Set
standards
where
need is
identified
and
ensure
that all
necessary
standards
are
promulgated
and
understood
throughout
Colas
Rail
Limited.
Set
level of
compliance
to E&P
Engineering
standards
in
conjunction
with
Clients.
Undertake
technical
audits
to
ensure
these
levels
are
achieved
within
the
safety
and
financial
objectives
of the
business
Key
accountabilities
Establish
Colas
Rail
Limited
E&P
Engineering
technical
safety
performance
objectives
as
defined
by
standards
or
required
in
projects
and
regional
businesses
and
monitor
compliance.
Assist
with the
E&P
elements
of new
bid work
as
required.
Ensure
technical
standards
are set,
briefed
and work
with
Project
Managers
to
implement
in all
relevant
projects.
Hold
power of
veto
over E&P
Engineering
activities
within
Colas
Rail
Limited.
Ensure
ISO9000
accreditation
is
achieved
and
retained
within
Colas
Rail E&P
Engineering
activities.
Represent
Colas
Rail
Limiteds
E&P
Engineering
interest
within
the
profession
and the
industry
both in
UK and
elsewhere.
Oversee
the
professional
training
and
development
of E&P
Engineering
staff
including
review
of
programme
and
approval
of
training
course
material.
Agree
competence
standards
for
relevant
works
and
ensure
systems
are in
place
such
that
staff
with
correct
competence
levels
are
employed.
Lead
E&P
Engineering
technical
audit
process
including
supplier
accreditation.
Ensure
all
accidents,
incidents,
irregularities
and
serious
failures,
including
involvement
by other
Departments
or
Contractors
are
thoroughly
investigated
including
initiation/participation
in
enquires
when
required
Reviewing
E&P
Engineering
technical
safety
performance
Identifying
and
developing
technical
improvements
for
enhancing
business
performance
Provision
or
procurement
of E&P
Engineering
design
services
where
required
internally
or under
contractual
commitments
Undertaking
strategic
overview
of E&P
Engineering
opportunities
and
achievement
for
input
into the
Business
Plan.
Qualifications,
Skills,
Knowledge
and
Experience
Engineering
degree
and
Chartered
Electrical
Engineer
with
thorough
knowledge
of
infrastructure
design,
construction
operation
and
maintenance.
Experienced
in
business
management
at
infrastructure
level
and the
management
of
change
Other
information
Must
be
willing
and able
to take
up work
opportunities
throughout
the UK.
