Position:-
Senior Construction Manager
Location:- Manchester/
Project Office
Reporting to:- Northern
Business Director/ Project Manager

Purpose of job
Responsible for the focus and
leadership within the project
delivery environment to ensure that
all works within the Pway, Civils,
Telecoms, Signalling, Overhead line
and Power disciplines are undertaken
successfully.
Drive delivery to ensure that all
programme and commercial goals
within any given project are met.
Provide flexibility and champion
innovation to deliver work by
faster, safer, and more efficient
means where possible.
Responsible for the welfare and
safety of all personnel in the
project delivery environment with
specific focus on compliance to
National and Industry procedures and
regulations.
Ensure that all contractual
commitments to Network Rail and
other customers are delivered in a
safe, high quality and commercially
viable manner.
Through co-ordination and liaison
with the discipline delivery
managers and CREs manage all
resources within project delivery
team to ensure that sufficient
manpower, machinery, and materials
are available to undertake the
required works, but to also ensure
that the budget is adhered to.
Attend site works when carried out,
provide Senior Managerial cover and
liase with the client as required.
Provide support to the Project
Manager/ Regional Business Director
in the review and preparation of
Tenders.
Represent Colas Rails interests
within the industry.
Through liaison with the Project
CREs oversee the training and
development of Engineering staff
within a project ensuring that they
are fully competent and conversant
with the duties that they are
expected to undertake.
Support and facilitate the Safety
and Technical Audit process as
required.
Ensure that the designs supplied for
project implementation have been
reviewed by the Construction team
and accepted for construction in
terms of the planned staging and
implementation of the works.
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge
and Experience
• Minimum of 10 years relevant
experience within one or more
Railway Engineering Disciplines.
• Understanding of the interface
between engineering disciplines and
the required co-ordination of each
to successfully deliver a
multidisciplinary project.
• Experience in managing and
delivering project work against a
fixed budget.
