Position:-
Project Managers
Location:- Scotland,
Manchester, London and South East
Reporting to:- Project
Director

Purpose of job
Responsible for the management of
allocated projects, teams and their
activities to ensure that all work
is delivered safely, efficiently on
time, within budget and to the
highest standard.
Key accountabilities
Overall responsibility for
delivery of project brief,
requirements and deliverables.
Liaison with the client to
determine and agree the project
requirements, ensuring that business
objectives are met.
Development of relationships with
both new and existing clients and
key stakeholders; promoting the
business with existing customers in
order that existing business is
retained and new business secured.
Implement appropriate project
management controls as required
within the Contract and as required
by Colas Rail.
Production of detailed cost plans,
phasing expenditure and cash flow;
ensuring that project(s) are
properly funded and controlled.
Develop and manage individuals to
maintain a motivated and dedicated
project team.
Ensure all project related safety
and quality plans are prepared and
delivered.
Promotion of problem solving, team
working and risk-sharing amongst
project members.
Adherence to companys polices and
procedures.
Provision of timely and accurate
reporting; identifying the
operational, commercial, HSEQ and
functional status of the project
(s).
Preparation of post-project
appraisal and lessons learnt
reports.
Assist with bids and tender
opportunities throughout the UK, for
which they may be utilised.
Identify opportunities for new
business in conjunction with
Business Development with a view to
develop, grow and manage the
business / activity thereafter.
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge
and Experience
Must be an Incorporated engineer
or degree qualified or equivalent.
Good all round knowledge of all
rail disciplines, P.Way, S&T,
Electrification and Overhead line.
Minimum 6 years experience of rail
project management on major projects
working for a contractor, with
knowledge of track renewals
desirable.
Highly proficient in leadership
with experience in managing
multi-disciplined teams.
Have proven experience in client
facing environment within the rail
sector.
Ability to make presentations to
senior management team and external
key stakeholders.
Good working knowledge of Health &
Safety issues.
Adept in negotiation and with a
working knowledge of main rail
industry standard forms of contract
and procurement routes.
Experience of Project Management
for projects of £20-£30 million plus
in value.
Other information
Must be willing and able to take
