Purpose of job

Develop and produce Health and Safety plans for the business, to provide professional advice and support to staff based within the Southern Business on environmental and safety issues. Assist contract staff in respect of compliance with relevant legislation, client standards and contractual arrangements.



Key accountabilities

• Develop Health and Safety Plans for the Regional Business.
• Provide a comprehensive advisory service on safety issues to managers to enable them to comply with current legislation.
• Undertake site visits when requested in the development of Health and Safety plans and undertake checks to identify non-compliance and provide recommendations
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the Safety Management System
• Promote an enthusiastic Safety culture that delivers positive commitment to and engages all employees in continuous improvement of Safety performance
• Implement initiatives as required to the project groups and identified by the Head of SHEQ.
• Assist with the evaluation and implementation of documentation
• Ensure that the Head of SHEQ and Southern Business SHE Manager is kept informed of all significant issues relating to Health and Safety plan submissions.
• The above does not limit your duties and the company may require you from time to time to undertake any work within your capabilities and capacity.



Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Two years in a Safety role within either construction or the Rail industry.
• Academic qualifications, relevant to the role being undertaken
• NEBOSH desirable
• Experience of rail work desirable.
• Current clean driving licence essential.
• Strong IT literacy.
