Our S&C South Alliance Anglia team took part in volunteering at St Francis Hospice in Romford. St Francis Hospice provides free care and support for those with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families, friends and carers.

Over the two days they installed two pergolas, constructed picnic tables, refurbished benches, cleaned patio areas, re-laid paving stones, tarmacked a pathway under the trees, cleared weeds and leaves, pothole repairs and finally planted new flowers.

With over 40 volunteers per day across various disciplines, the team effort was immense. David McCann-Assistant Project Manager who championed the effort said, “Everyone worked hard and showed a consistent positive attitude which ensured we delivered the full scope of work we had agreed to. Thank you to everyone who participated. Special thanks to BPH Rail & Civil Engineering Ltd, High Motive Ltd, and Ashtead Plant Hire Company Limited (A-Plant) for providing staff and materials free of charge to ensure these works could go ahead.”

Tom Murtagh, Corporate Sponsorship Manager at Saint Francis Hospice said. “The support that Colas Rail has given us over the past 2 days has been incredible. The work that the team has delivered this week is really going to make a huge impact to the overall appearance and look of the hospice, which is so important. We have incredible grounds here so it is important that when people come to visit us with their patients or with their families that they have beautiful outdoor spaces, where they can reflect and enjoy.”
